Autoarea cărţilor pentru copii, Kathrzn Fitzmaurice, a fost extrem de drăguţă şi mi-a acceptat interviul! Sunt aproape sigură că majoritatea celor care citesc postarea doriţi să aflaţi mai multe despre noua ei carte “Destiny Rewritten” dar şi despre viaţa autoarei!
 
 
1. S: Bună Kathryn! Îţi mulţumesc foarte mult pentru că ai acceptat acest interviu! Ce ar fi dacă ne-ai spune câteva lucruri despre tine?
Kathryn: Îţi mulţumesc foarte mult pentru că m-ai intervievat. Îmi plac câinii, foarte mult, şi îmi place poezia, fapt pentru care m-am decis să scriu o carte numai despre asta!
2. S: Despre ce este cartea ta “Destiny Rewritten” ? Spune-le cititorilor câteva cuvinte despre ea!
Kathryn: Lui Emily Elizabeth Davis i s-a spus întreaga ei viaţă că destinul ei este să devină poetă, la fel ca şi tizul ei, Emily Dickinson.  Dar la scurt timp după ce descoperă că există un secret de familie, ea pierde volumul special cu poezii scrise de Emily Dickinson care îi fusese dat la naştere. În timp ce  Emily şi prietenii săi caută cartea pierdută în toate librăriile vechi din oraş, înţelegerea destin ului al lui Emily începe să se clarifice, şi apoi să se rescrie într-un mod fabulos şi nou.
3. S: Cum ţi-a venit în minte ideea cărţii?
Kathryn: Bunica mea, care a fost o autoare de  science fiction, mi-a dat o copie a cărţii THE COMPLETE POEMS OF EMILY DICKINSON, la cea de-a 20-a zi de naştere a mea. În ea a scris, “E.D. este o poetă respectabilă.  Poate acelaşi lucru va fi spus despre K.H. într-o zi.”  Acela a fost punctul de plecare al cărţii.

S: Păi asta suna foarte interesant! Foarte frumas cadoul!

 

4. S: Coperta cărţii este foarte drăguţp! Sunt sigură că orice cititor s-ar îndrăgosti de ea! Care este povestea din spatele creării acestei coperte? A fost aceasta alegerea ta iniţială?

Kathryn: Coperta a fost ilustrată de Erwin Madrid, http://www.erwinmadrid.com/.   Este un ilustrator atât de talentat.  Sunt norocoasă că el mi-a făcut o copertă minunată!  El a fost angajat de HarperCollins pentru a face coperta şi ei mi-au trimis-o când a fost gata.  El deasemenea a ilustrat varianta broşată a cărţii THE YEAR THE SWALLOWS CAME EARLY.  O altă copertă minunată!

S: Wow! El chiar are nişte desene minunate! Mă bucur că am aflat despre el!

5. S: Care sunt cărţile/seriile tale preferate? Poţi face un top 5/10 dacă doreşti!

Kathryn: Îmi plac atât de multe cărţi diferite, dar în special cele scrise de Kate DiCamillo.  Consider că scrie într-un mod real şi ones care mereu îmi capturează inima.  Voi termina cărţile ei şi sper ca într-o zi să scriu ceva care să fie aproape la fel de bun ca şi una din poveştile ei!

 

6. S: Ce autori consideri că te-au inspirat? Este vreun autor în special cu, care te asociezi?

Kathryn: Îndeosebi îmi place Gary D. Schmidt, Kate DiCamillo, Debra Wiles, Sharon Creech, şi Rebecca Stead.  Într-un fel îmi plac poveştile care arată cum un personaj se schimbă de la început până la sfârşit şi cum văd lumea diferit după ce au evoluat.

7. S: Unde obişnuieşti să îţi scrii cărţile? Ai vreun loc specific?
Kathryn: Am un birou acasă unde lucrez în fiecare zi.  Nu îmi place să scriu în alt loc în afară de acesta! Căţeluşa mea, Holly, stă cu mine în fiecare zi cât timp scriu.

S: Este foarte drăguţ să ai un căţel drept companie cât timp scrii! Foarte tare!

 

8. S: În ce ţară ai dori ca, cărţile tale să fie cunoscute?
Kathryn: Cred că ar fi frumos ca în orice ţară cărţile mele să fie cunoscute.  Având cititori în toată lumea ar fi minunat!
9. S: Ce crezi despre România, ţara în care locuiesc eu? Ţi-ar plăcea să o vizitezi într-o zi?
Kathryn: Nu am fost niciodată în România.  Pozele pe care le-am văzut fac ţara să pară foarte frumoasă.  Cred că ar fi frumos să o vizitez într-o zi!  Mă întreb oare, este foarte frig?
10. S: Ca o încheiere, poţi spune orice îţi trece prin minte celor care citesc interviul! Îţi mulţumesc pentru timpul acordat acestui interviu!

Kathryn: Bănuiesc că le voi da cititorilor un citat din DESTINY, REWRITTEN.  Asta este din momentul în care  Emily, care este personajul principal, decide să îşi ia soarta în mâini:

And that’s when I started wondering about what Emily had written in her letter to Thomas Wentworth Higginson, and if it was possible for a person to change their destiny.  If you could take it by the hand like a friend on the playground and say, “I know you wanted to swing.  But I have something else to show you, something wonderful and different that you may not have thought of.  Come see the slide instead.”

S: Ce citat minunat! Abia aştept să îţi citesc cartea! Sunt sigură că majoritatea cititorilor ai acestui gen vor iubi cartea!

The children’s books author, Kathryn Fitzmaurice, was extremly kind and accepted my interview! I am sure that most of you would love to know more about her new book Destiny Rewritten but also about the author’s life!
1. S: Hi Kathryn! Thank you for accepting this interview! How about telling us some things about yourself?
Kathryn: Thank you very much for interviewing me.  I like dogs, a lot, and I like poetry, which is why I decided to write a book about just that!
2. S: What is your book “Destiny Rewritten” about? Tell the readers a few words about it!
Kathryn: Emily Elizabeth Davis has been told her entire life that her destiny is to become a poet, just like her famous namesake, Emily Dickinson.  But shortly after discovering that it contains a family secret, she loses the special volume of Emily Dickinson’s poetry that was given to her at birth.  As Emily and her friends search for the lost book in used bookstores all across town, Emily’s understanding of destiny begins to unravel, and then rewrite itself in a marvelous new way.
3. S: How did the idea for your book come to your mind?
Kathryn: My grandmother, who was a science fiction author, gave me a copy of THE COMPLETE POEMS OF EMILY DICKINSON, for my twentieth birthday.  In it she wrote, “E.D. is a revered poet.  Perhaps the same will be said of K.H. one day.”  That was the starting point of the book.

S: Now that sounds really nice! Great idea for a gift!

 

4. S: The cover of the book is really lovely! I am sure that any reader would fall in love with it! What’s the story behind the cover? Was this your first choice?
Kathryn: The cover was illustrated by Erwin Madrid, http://www.erwinmadrid.com/.   He is such a talented illustrator.  I am lucky he gave me such a wonderful cover!  He was hired by HarperCollins to do the cover and they sent it to me when it was completed.  He also illustrated the paper back of THE YEAR THE SWALLOWS CAME EARLY.  Another very lovely cover!

 S: Wow! He really has some amazing works! Good to know of him!
5. S: What are you favorite books/book series? You can make a top 5/10 if you want to!
Kathryn: I like so many different books, but especially those written by Kate DiCamillo.  I think she writes in a very true and honest way that always captures my heart.  I finish her books and hope that one day I will write something that is almost as good as one of her stories!
6. S: Which authors do you consider to have been your inspiration? Is there any particular author that you relate with?
Kathryn: I particularly like Gary D. Schmidt, Kate DiCamillo, Debra Wiles, Sharon Creech, and Rebecca Stead.  I kind of like stories that show how a character changes from the start to the finish, and how they see the world differently after they have grown.
7. S: Where do you use to write your works? Any place in particular?
Kathryn: I have a home office where I work each day.  I do not like to write anywhere except here! My dog, Holly, sits with me everyday while I write.

S: It is really nice to have your dog as a companion while working! Awesome!

 

8. S: What country would you like your books to be popular in?
Kathryn: I think any country would be nice to have my books be popular in.  Having readers all of the world would be nice!
9. S: What do you think about Romania, the country i live in? Would you like to visit it one day?
Kathryn: I have never been to Romania.  The photographs I have seen make the country look very beautiful.  I think it would be very nice to visit one day!  I wonder, is it very cold?

 S: Haha! Do not worry about the cold weather. We have 4 seasons. In summer the temperature can reach a maximum of 40*C in the arid places(about 34-36 in cities) and in winter we have a normal -10*C as a maximum(for daytime). Today was snowing again for a bit but it was not that cold: -3*C. We have all sorts of temperature ^^.
10. S: As an ending, you can say anything that comes to your mind to those who are reading! Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions!
Kathryn: I suppose I will give your readers an excerpt from DESTINY, REWRITTEN.  This is when Emily, who is the main character, decides to take fate into her own hands:
