Potrivit legendei, Lacul Roşu denumit şi Lacul Ucigaş sau Ghilcoş şi-a căpătat numele datorită morţii unui cioban, a oilor sale şi a câinelui său în urma surpării acestui teren. Se spune că apa ar fi căpătat o culoare roşie fapt pentru care lacul a fost privit ca fiind unul ucigaş! În prezent, una dintre atracţiile lacului sunt trunchiurile brazilor care sunt presărate prin lac, acestea ajungând în starea curentă după ce pădurea cu brazi a fost inundată, trunchiurile acestora pietrificându-se.
As the legend says, The Red Lake also called The Killer Lake or Ghilcoş got it’s name because of the death of a shepherd, of his sheep and dog after a landslide of this terrain. It is told that the water got a reddish colour after this fact for which it was seen as a killer lake! In the present time, one of the attractions of the lake are the fir trunks that are dotted about the lake, their current state being due to the flooding of the fir forest, the trunks becoming petrified.
Salina Cacica din judeţul Suceava îşi are începuturile undeva prin anul 1780. Pentru a vizita salina se coboară (cu grijă!) pe trepte de brad vechi de mai mult de 200 de ani. Accesul turiştilor se face până la o adâncime de aproximativ 40-50 de metri însă lucrătorii au acces până la 70-80 de metri sub pământ.
The Cacica Salt Mine from Suceava has it’s beginings somewhere in the late 1780’s. When visiting the mine you have to climb down (carefully!) on fit stairs that are more than 200 years old. Tourists can climb down for about 40-50 meters but workers have access at least 70-80 meters underground.
