Hi everyone! I have a little surprise for you! Here’s a really nice interview with the author of The Zurian Child, Jessica E. Subject! This interesting book is a good reading for alien lovers out there! Note that it is not rated as a young-adult book since it contains a few scenes that aren’t appropriate for those young of age.
I want to thank Jessica for being really kind and answering all of my questions and also thinking of making a SURPRISE for all of you!
If you want to WIN a signed cover flat of The Zurian Child & a magnet, simply follow the steps mentioned at question 10!

1. Hi Jessica! Thank you for accepting this interview! How about telling us some facts from your life?
Thank you so much, Simona, for having me on your
blog today. I’m so glad to have met you.
blog today. I’m so glad to have met you.
Besides being a science fiction romance author, I’m
also a wife, mother of two, and an avid reader. I started writing when my
oldest child was in kindergarten and learning how to read. She hated the books
she brought home, so I set out to write a book about superheroes, a topic she
enjoys. I’ve been writing ever since.

2. Since many may not know about your current series, mind telling us about
The Zurian Child (Mark of the Stars #1)?
The Zurian Child is about a group of aliens, the
Hemera, who leave their own planet where they are threatened with annihilation
by the Erebus. The Hemera come to Earth and try to blend in, and deal with many
situations involving their own customs and how they translate on the new
planet. But the Erebus follow them, causing even more problems. The Zurian
Child is the first in the series. Here’s the blurb:

Lindsay Beckett longed to be reunited with her first love, Quinn Montgomery, until she learns the secret that sent him fleeing from her in the first place. He’s an alien, a Hemera, and she’s half-Hemera herself. As if that wasn’t enough to ruin her dreams of a perfect life, when their child is born, they discover she fulfills a prophesy told twenty light years away and many years ago. Lindsay wants to ignore it, until her husband is murdered and suddenly believing becomes a matter of survival.
Lindsay and her young daughter are forced to rely on another Hemera, her husband’s partner and best friend, Bryce Beuermann as more and more of the Hemera are slaughtered. Bryce will do anything to help his best friend’s widow—including suppressing his own deep feelings for her. But he must prove they can trust him, even pretending he doesn’t want her with all his heart.
3. Any spoilers about the creation of the magical cover?
Isn’t the cover wonderful? I must admit that it was
not what I originally envisioned, but I like it much better. As an author, when
we receive a contract for our book, we also receive a cover request form where
we include what the hero and heroine look like, where the story takes place,
etc. From my original request, the stars were the only thing I insisted on.
They relate to the prophecy of The Zurian Child. And the cover models are so
very close to how I envisioned Lindsay and her hero. Reese Dante did a fabulous
job!

4. Since when did your passion for aliens start? I have seen that you used
them in your books.
them in your books.
Yes, the majority of my stories are alien romances.
It started when I sat down to write that first book for my daughter. We are a
superhero fan family, and my favorite superhero is Superman, an alien from the
planet Krypton. It was then I decided to write stories that showed that aliens
could be just as sexy as vampires, werewolves, and demons.

5. If aliens exist, on which planet would you picture them?
Oh, I believe aliens do exist. In our own solar
system, no. Though Mars at one time could have sustained life. I believe they
live several light years away and need technology far more advanced than our
own to travel through the stars. Whether I’ll ever live to meet them remains to
be seen.

Wow, I am so very impressed with the response here. 🙂
It's great to see other Obsidian fans. The book came highly recommended to me from some of the authors I meet with on a regular basis. They knew I wrote about aliens and thought I'd love the book. And I did. I am anxious for August when the next book in the series will be released.
The very first Nora Roberts book I read was Dance Upon the Air.
Awesome giveaway!THank you!

This is the 1st time someone warns me about the contents of a book – being a young-adult book I am quite curious what it contains ( Of course, restrictions and recommendations never really stopped me from enjoying myself 🙂 – I still believe that going against the current is the way to go)
Going through the interview I can't stop to notice how Ms. Jessica E. takes the time to answer every question with so much details – heheh. The interview really felt like going through a little story of it's own, one that I really enjoyed reading. – Wish there were more questions and answers heheh – She has a superhero fan family! I mean come on, makes me wish my parents were just a tiny bit close to being fans of anything really 😀
About the book, well there is nothing much to say, I have always loved Sci-Fi stories/novels and films, But I do have to admit, none of them really focused on the romance side of story telling, so it's not too late for a start – and it's a sci-fi romance novel ^_^ – I can just imagine how cool will that be, (without focusing on destroying our tiny piece of heaven heheh) 🙂 *wonders how will love be described from the perspective of other races *.
As a final Note I took notice of your replies, and wow – I can just say that I am pleasantly impressed :), thank you for answering the interview, gifting away freebies and most importantly coming back to check on us ( I for one am smiling while typing this, as not that many authors really get involved, specially when it comes to small communities like this one, I am actually smiling while I am writing these lines because of that alone, so thank you! 🙂
After reading the book I am sure I will have a ton of questions, so if you will still be around …, it would be a nice treat –
Too bad we can't all just gather and have a nice cup of tea while someone reads the story, it would be quite amazing 😉
Devlish – Hehe. I thought it important to note that there are scenes of intercourse that are explicit. I will not let my daughter read them until she is eighteen. LOL
Yes, we all love the superheroes. My fav is Superman, while my husband loves The Hulk. My daughter loves Wolverine, and my son is too young to pick a favorite yet. 🙂
Most of my stories deal with alien romance, though not all. And The Zurian Child is the first in a series about this alien family and everything they have to deal with on Earth.
Personally, I enjoy interacting with my readers. And I love it when the authors of books I love interact with me. I think it's extremely important.
And who doesn't love book swag? I have a cubby and corkboard full of the stuff I've collected. 🙂
I'll be around for a few days, so if you do have any other questions, feel free to ask.
All the best!
~Jessica
Heheh, well there's a 1st time for that as well – never really read any books that describe that –
Ps: I like Magneto (of course he is a villain but still, I think he's awesome. ^-^)
Ah yes now that you mention it 😉
